When the nervous system is stuck in overdrive — or swinging between overdrive and shutdown — everything is harder. Sleep, energy, pain, mood, focus, recovery. The nervous system sits underneath all of it. Learning to work with it, rather than push against it, tends to be where real change starts. What Nervous System Dysregulation Actually Looks Like

Most people don't think of themselves as having a "nervous system problem." They think of themselves as someone who can't sleep, someone who's always tense, someone whose pain doesn't make sense, someone who feels wired but exhausted, someone who never quite recovers. Those descriptions are all accurate. They're also all descriptions of a nervous system that's stuck in a pattern it can't get out of on its own.

Dysregulation isn't a diagnosis — it's a pattern. The autonomic nervous system, which regulates everything from heart rate and breathing to digestion, sleep, and pain processing, can get pulled out of its natural balance by chronic stress, trauma, illness, or sustained physical strain. When it does, the effects show up across the whole system. And the fix isn't usually found by treating each symptom in isolation. 

Why Working With the Nervous System Matters

The nervous system is the common thread running through most of what we treat here — chronic pain, anxiety, fatigue, Long COVID, stress-related symptoms, post-injury recovery. In every case, how the nervous system is interpreting and responding to signals matters as much as the structural or psychological factors.

Working directly with the nervous system — through mind-body coaching, biofeedback, HRV training, breathwork, paced movement, neuroeducation, and much more — gives us a way to address that root-level pattern. Not by forcing the system to calm down, but by building the conditions where getting unstuck becomes possible. It's gradual, and it's real.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Nervous system work here is integrated into everything we do — it's not a separate add-on. The tools we draw on are evidence-based: a thorough assessment, stress physiology assessments, HRV biofeedback, capnometry and breathing behaviour analysis, Pain Reprocessing Therapy, BWRT, coaching, and hands-on physiotherapy where appropriate.

Every plan is built around the individual. We start with a thorough conversation, build a picture together, and go from there. Sessions are available in person in Saskatoon and virtually across Canada.
