Post-Injury RecoveryΒ

In-Person in Saskatoon and Area or Virtually Anywhere.

Recovery after injury isn't always just about the tissue. The physical healing is one part of the story β€” but the nervous system's response to injury matters too, and it often gets overlooked. We work with both. Available in person in Saskatoon or virtually anywhere.

Why Recovery Isn't Always Straightforward

Most people expect recovery to track the healing of the injury itself β€” once the tissue is repaired, things should go back to normal. And often, that's roughly how it works. But for a significant number of people, pain and limitation persist longer than the injury would predict. Movement feels guarded. Certain activities still trigger symptoms. The body doesn't quite feel like it did before.

This isn't unusual, and it's not necessarily a sign that something is still structurally wrong. What it often reflects is that the nervous system has learned, through the experience of the injury, to be protective. That protectiveness served a purpose during acute recovery β€” but sometimes it stays around longer than it needs to, long after the original damage has resolved.

What We Look at Beyond the Tissue

A thorough assessment here looks at both the physical and the nervous system side of recovery. On the physical side, that means understanding what's actually happening with strength, mobility, and movement patterns. On the nervous system side, it means looking at how the system is interpreting movement and sensation β€” whether it's treating normal activity as threatening, and why.

This isn't about telling someone their pain isn't real. It's about getting the full picture so we can actually address what's keeping recovery stalled. Sometimes that means hands-on physiotherapy. Sometimes it means Pain Reprocessing work. Usually it means both, woven together in a way that makes sense for where the person is.

Getting Back to What Matters

The goal of recovery isn't just being pain-free on paper β€” it's being able to do the things that matter to you again, with confidence. That might mean returning to sport, returning to work, returning to movement that felt normal before. We work toward that specifically, not generically.

Post-injury recovery sessions are in person at our Saskatoon clinic, where hands-on assessment and treatment can happen properly. Some education and coaching components can continue virtually between sessions if that's helpful. Book a free 15-minute consult to talk through where you are and what would make the most sense next.

Not Sure Where to Start

The free 15-minute consultation is exactly what it sounds like β€” a no-pressure conversation. You share what's going on, I share how I work, and we figure out together whether it's a good fit.
If it's not, I'll tell you that honestly β€” and I'll do my best to point you somewhere that is.
